Principal Consultant Liz Butterworth Lectures to Students at 'Human Factors in Industry – A Consultants View' Event

Liz Butterworth, a Principal Consultant with Human Engineering, recently lectured to students on a Post-Masters degree course run by the Mines Paris Tech graduate school. The lecture, entitled ‘Human Factors in Industry – A Consultants View’ was part of a 3-day module being run by the French school on ‘Human Factors and Safety in the UK’.

Liz Butterworth, a Principal Consultant with Human Engineering, recently lectured to students on a Post-Masters degree course run by the Mines Paris Tech graduate school.  The lecture, entitled ‘Human Factors in Industry – A Consultants View’ was part of a 3-day module being run by the French school on ‘Human Factors and Safety in the UK’.

Students on the course are experienced personnel from a range of organisations including EDF, Total, and SNCF who are enrolled onthe course to enhance their knowledge of topics such as safety management systems, safety culture, organisational sciences, human error and performance, organisational learning,  and accident analysis.  

In her lecture Liz gave an overview of how human factors is applied within UK industry, and discussed gaps in compliance with legislative requirements and best practice.  Students were also able to engage in a practical exercise to identify and assess safety critical tasks associated with a tanker offloading activity.
