Change management
Successful integration of concepts into reality is a transition and needs to be carefully managed. Any business or operational modification which represents a significant change to the existing business workforce structure and ways of working requires a transition effort to manage the implementation.
Transition refers to managing the implementation of the organisation, process and systems that comprise the future change (e.g. the control room). The objective is to do this as effectively and efficiently as possible in order to maximise the immediate benefits to the business. Change management is critical for preparing an organisation for success.
For effective change to occur, organisations must realise:
Individuals and organisations must think, act, and perform differently
It takes more than a single individual acting alone
Both leaders and organisation members must be involved
Human Engineering has led and assisted many organisations to successfully implement change. For example, the development of a new control room may require staff members to adopt a new level of hierarchy, alter their behaviours towards colleagues, and adjust to a new job role. This change can be managed in a number of ways, including: advertising campaigns and increased awareness, forums and support groups, workshops, training, and coaching.
