HCI (Human computer interaction)
The quality and value of a new computer system is very often measured by how easy it is to use.
The concept of human-system interface design is about shaping systems and technologies around the needs, expectations and desires, and the capabilities and limitations of the people that use them. System operation needs to be intuitive and simple, and information needs to be presented in a clear, consistent and usable format.
A great deal of research has investigated what constitutes good user interface design. Over the years this research has been translated into sets of guidelines and design principles that can help guide user interface design and evaluation. User interfaces that adhere to the principles of good design will be:
They will operate as expected; minimise frustration and annoyance; make people feel confident and positive about what they do; and be associated with significant cost reductions. Human Engineering works with our clients to ensure that the design of software solutions conforms to the guiding principles of good user interface design.
